Princess For Just A Moment

As I was putting on my makeup and getting ready to head out for the day, Alexis entered the bathroom and said she wanted to put on some makeup. I told her that she could not wear makeup until she was sixteen years old. Then, the girlie side of me came out and "I" wanted to see how she would look wearing a wee bit of makeup. So, I sat her down and applied the makeup exactly like I do to myself. I felt like I was playing dress up as a little girl. Alexis has never really played dress up, she's our little tomboy! Anyways, here are the results. She was absolutely beautiful. She immediately wanted to wipe it off of her face after we took some fun pics because she said she didn't want to wear it anymore. She then said, "Mom, I guess you were right. I'm too pretty for makeup." I replied, "yes you are!"

I Had Never Thought Of This

Imagine God's creativity. Of all we don't know about the creation, there is one thing we do know--he did it with a smile. He must've had a blast. Painting the stripes on the zebra, hanging the stars in the sky, putting the gold in the sunset. What creativity! Stretching the neck of the giraffe, putting the flutter in the mockingbird's wings, planting the giggle in the hyena.

What a time he had. Like a whistling carpenter in his workshop, he loved every bit of it. He poured himself into the work. So intent was his creativity that he took a day off at the end of the week just to rest.

And then, as a finale to a brilliant performance, he made man. With his typical creative flair, he began with a useless mound of dirt and ended up with an invaluable species called a human. A human who had the unique honor to bear the stamp, "In His Image."
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image.”

ring, ring.......go away!

I almost dread answering the phone sometimes. It takes up way too much of my day talking to the ones I love. My mom called early morning, then Harmony called, then Brandy called, then Harmony called back, then Craig called, then Stephanie called, then Harmony (again) then Allison called (we talked for 2.5 hours), then Kim called, then I had to make my daily calls to random peoples, then I checked my emails and responded back to them. Emails are like phone calls right? Then Chad & Candace came over with their kids (does that count as a phone call?) It's kinda like a phone call just in person. Then, Christine called (but it was a short and rushy call.....well an emergency call) Then Harmony called, then Harmony called back because she now remembered what she had forgotten to tell me from the prior call. The very last call of the entire day was made by my husband Craig. He called his brother John back to make sure his little boy was OK after falling down and hitting his head. I am all phone called out, emailed out and just plain talked out. I'm turning my ringers off now.

No Words Can Explain It

Alexis loves visiting this site where she creates beautiful snowflakes. So, today she made a beautiful snowflake and asked me to come over and take a look at it. As we were walking together, to go view her masterpiece snowflake, she said, "Mom, I can't even explain the words, it's just like heaven. I can't explain it. It's so beautiful." She too is a beautiful snowflake, perfect in every way! Shaped that way only by her Creator. Are there any words to explain that?

"Mom, why..............."

does this VCR tape feel so heavy?" This is the question Alexis asked me this morning as she held a VHS tape in her hand. As she was waiting for my answer, this tape bobbled up and down in her hand as it appeared to be weighing it down. It was too heavy, even for her to hold. I knew she was comparing it to the feather light DVDs of today. It didn't take her long to figure out why this VCR tape was so heavy. "Mom the reason it is so heavy is because you recorded too many things on it." I suppose she is right?
