From A Distance

I saw Londyn getting into an armoire that houses keepsakes and special memory items. She had found some new and interesting things that she decided she must look at immediately. She did not have a second to spare as she dug right in sifting through things that had never been seen before. As I was busy tending to my duties, I would often stop to observe her and make sure she was not getting into anything she shouldn't; especially since there were some breakables stashed away in that there armoire of newly found treasures. Then, I started to hear kisses! Not just one kiss, but droves and droves of kisses; one right after the other. As the kisses continued, I looked over to see Londyn intensely looking at a picture frame she had retrieved from the armoire; she was smiling from ear to ear. Then she began showering this picture frame with even more kisses. Londyn Was So Happy! I could tell her heart was smiling! She was absolutely in looooove with this picture frame. She began embracing the picture frame and carrying it around everywhere she went like it was her beloved blankie. So, I decided to walk over and see who's face was framed in the picture frame she so dearly loved. As I approached her, she was closely embracing the picture frame as she held it close to her chest. I could tell it comforted her so. I saw a beloved face in the frame smiling back at her. This is the very picture and face..........

Yesterday

was a bitter sweet day. It was my mom's birthday! She was showered with gifts as she revealed them from room to room when she arrived home after a long and exhausting day at work (she's a teacher and it was field day (SO HOT). There were gifts & b-day greetings everywhere she looked; in the fridge (when she went to get a drink), bathroom (when she went to freshen up), laundry room (when she went to throw in a load), TV armoire (when she went to sit and relax), and virtually everywhere else in her house. We wanted to make her day soooooo special to help drown the hurt. I can still hear the phone ringing 22 years ago in the wee hours of the morning with the dreadful news that her mom had gone to be with the FATHER after a long battle with cancer.......on my mom's birthday. Although this happened many, many years ago it might as well of been yesterday. Most of the birthdays in our family, for some reason, are bitter sweet days. My mother's father, my grandfather, passed away on my birthday and the list goes on and on. My moms eldest brother will be going home when the Lord calls him, but when? I'm just thankful it didn't happen yesterday. I pray that she will find peace in her soul knowing that her mom & dad would be saddened to know she hurts so. They, on the otherhand, are with their Lord & Savior where there is no hurt and no pain. My heart feels joy to know that her brother will one day join them in a place so majestic and so glorious. A place we can't even imagine. Thank you FATHER!

The Angels "HE" Had Stationed Around Us

The girls and I had a frightening experience the other day at Kinko's. As I was standing at the counter talking to the attendant we ALL heard a very loud noise; the sound of a crash not very far away had just happened. Everyone in the Kinko's store, including the girls and I instinctively ran for the front door to see what we might. Right next door, at NBNAILS, a car had driven though the entire front entry! Apparently the driver thought she was breaking and accidentally hit the accelerator. At the time the accident occurred, my girls were playing around very close to where I was at the counter; located in the middle of the store. However, THIS is not always the case. Londyn Paige always tries to find her way to the front door each time we visit a store. Sometimes, I will tell Alexis to watch her and make sure she doesn't go outside or get in some one's way. This happening has now made me think twice about where my girls are hanging out in the stores we visit. They will no longer be allowed to hang out at the front door of stores. Alexis will no longer be able to just get in our car by finding her away around the back of our vehicle, as she often does, to hop in on the other side. God stationed his angels around us that day and has reaffirmed the wisdom needed that I had gotten too lax about the safety of my girls. Although I know it was a freak accident, this accident happened waaaaaaaaay toooooooo close to us that day.

Running A Few Errands, Turned Into A Fun Filled Day

This past Friday, Alexis, Londyn & I left to go run a few errands since we were low on milk and a few other things. So, around 3:00 we headed to Wal-Mart. On the way, Alexis told me that she saw on a commercial about Kohls having a sale, but you had to hurry before everything is gone. I told her that we would stop in if she was on her best behavior while we were at the store. After Wal-Mart we headed to Hobby Lobby were we ran into Jennifer who was sporting an adorably cute new hair cut. Her two girls accompanied her and they were on their best behavior. I will not mention in this post how my sweet, sweet Londyn was acting. We were looking for an art portfolio but discovered they were a lot more than I wanted to pay, so I will wait til they go on sale. Next we headed to Kohls. As I was shopping I heard a girl's voice that sounded very familiar as she was taking on her cell phone. I kept hanging around so that I could ask her if her name was Whitney, but she never got off of THAT phone. So, off we went shopping! As we were heading to the toy department a woman popped out right in front of me saying (I forgot what she was saying) but it was our old family friends Gwen and her daughter Whitney. We had a blast catching up right there in the store. As we went on our way shopping we agreed to call each other when we were done so that I could check out using their extra 30% off coupon. After checking out we all decided to go eat at Los Cucos where Gene (Gwen's husband) was already waiting. After dinner they took Alexis to their house as I headed home to unload milk and head right over to their house, until my delirious Londyn decided to take a nap. Needless to say, Craig was at another one of our old neighbor's house and on his way out stopped in and picked up Alexis to bring her home. I couldn't believe she "wanted" to spend the night at the Burnell's. It was a day filled with the unexpected and it was so much fun.

Saddened

My friend shared with me the other day about a little girl, who's about 7, with the thoughts of killing herself. The first thing that came to my mind is, that it starts/begins at home! Craig and I try to edify our children each and everyday as much as we possibly can.

Each night before my girls go to bed, this is what I whisper to them,

"You're special
you're precious
you're a gift from God.
Mommy loves you
daddy loves you
sister loves you
and Jesus loves you
with all of our hearts.
You have a special purpose in life
you will have
peaceful dreams
a peaceful mind
and peaceful sleep...
in JESUS name!
And you are a beautiful SNOWFLAKE......AMEN
(everyone should know the story of the snowflake,
if you don't click on the word snowflake to find out)

My little Londyn doesn't quite know exactly what I'm saying, but as she stares up at me with wide eyes and with that precious trusting glance, it's all worth it. Alexis on the other hand does understands, and as she lays there about to doze off to sleep, her breathing gets a little heavier and the corners of her mouth turn upward.....Her Heart Is Smiling! Just tending to my sheep.

Does The Tooth Fairy Really Keep Your Teeth?

We stumbled upon these adorably cute, ceramic tooth trinkets while we were in San Marcos last week. I had to purchase two of them; one for each of the girls. We found them by accident as we made our way into the gift shop at The San Marcos Medical Center (that's another story). We stopped in as we were trying to kill some time and met a nice, old gentleman who struck up a conversation with us as we browsed in his store. When I actually had time to look at the items they were selling, I was really quite surprised! Along with the trinket boxes, I also came across the Mother's Day gift I got for my mom. However, I can't mention what that is until after Mother's Day! I was just wondering if the Tooth Fairy really keeps your teeth? Well, I'm going to ask for them back. I'm just wondering how much it's going to cost me?????

Happenings

We have been extremely busy now that we are gearing up for summer! Since Alexis will be starting school in the fall, it seems as though our lives have already changed before the school year has even begun. The summer and extra curricular activities are keeping us on our toes and always on the go. We have lots of things planned for the next couple of months including MDO play dates at our house (one day a week and it's going to be sooooo girlie), gymnastics and even soccer in the fall; all of this on top of the normal activities we enjoy doing in the summer. Anyways, here are some pics that sum up some of the things the girls have been up to. The pics tell a much better story than anything I could put into words.
